Not sleeping. Standing.

Dear Baby,

Why will  you not give yourself a chance to fall asleep? You cannot fall asleep if when I put you down in your cot, you immediately stand up holding onto the side. Is it because of developmental imperative – you cannot help but stand up? Your poor frustrated mother trying to catch you every second from slipping and smacking your head on the taps because you insist on standing up for the whole of bath time. And now this standing mission is translated to bedtime too. Please lie down and go to sleep. You used to go to sleep so nicely while feeding. You used to go to sleep with daddy rocking you. Now there is just standing. And with the standing comes the yelling.

I once heard of a mother putting her baby in his cot standing up. At least then, there was only one direction for him to go.

Loudboy stands up in the bath too! We have a non-slip mat which helps a bit. He will crouch down to splah about but then he’s up and toddling to the other end again… and as for bedtimes…

But walking is sooooo exciting! Baby Boo, who is 9 1/2 months old now, can walk holding ONE of your hands. It is SO exciting and thrilling for her, to walk! My son did the same thing, drove me about half crazy… now Boo is driving the other half of me crazy! What happens if we have a third kid? Oh my… ROFLMAO

Stinx (my little guy) has just learned to pull himself up and stand in the crib! I didn’t think this milestone would be reached so quickly. I didn’t realize that once the crawling started there was no stopping, in any direction. So I am totally in the same boat as you. I wake up to him crying, practicing this standing stuff. Wishing you a horizontal sleeping baby!
